You don't say how old either of you are nor what fields you are employed. No relationship, including marriage, is 100% strife-free, so you "snapping" at your boyfriend is no big deal. What is important is to realize why you did it and the reason for his reply. If you believe that your different work fields are somehow to blame, then you both need to reasses what you are doing and maybe grow up a little into the real world.
