Need help finding an old romance novel?

I read this book a good couple of years ago. The story was about a blonde woman whose doctor father dies an she then goes west(i think) wit her cousin milly? who had black hair and said cousins husband an family. Along the way milly dies an the blonde one ends up marrying the husband. They eventually fall in love. Please can anyone help with the name and author!
